Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP has shown her support for THINKK by naming the think tank as a recipient in the Lord Mayoral Salary Trust grants.

THINKK was given $25,000 by the Salary Trust, the highest amount possible.

Established at UTS’s Institute for Sustainable Futures, THINKK conducts independent research and encourages public discourse about the way kangaroo populations are managed in the Australian landscape.

Ms Moore said: "The brutal killing of kangaroos in the name of culling needs to stop.

"The national code covering humane culling is a start, but it needs to be followed and enforced."

Part of THINKK's mission is to explore non-lethal management methods that are consistent with ecology, animal welfare, human health and ethics.

"By donating my Lord Mayoral salary I can directly help projects like this, that help some of our most vulnerable and disadvantaged people and animals," said Ms Moore.
